We are happy to welcome Didem Ünal Abaday, who will be joining the IUR as visiting scholar for a month from mid-May to mid-June.

Didem Unal Abaday is a postdoctoral researcher at the Religion, Conflict and Dialogue Research Center at the Faculty of Theology of University of Helsinki. Previously, she was a Junior Thyssen Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies of Central European University (CEU) and a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Gender Studies, Ethnology and History of Religions of Stockholm University. She was also a visiting research fellow at the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies of Rutgers University and at the Graduate Center of City University of New York (CUNY). She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at Bilkent University, Ankara. Her research interests focus on gender politics in Turkey, right-wing populism and gender, Muslim women’s movements, and Muslim femininities in Western migration contexts. Her recent publications appeared in various journals such as Women’s Studies International Forum, European Journal of Women’s Studies, Journal of Women, Politics and Policy and Politics & Gender.
