
Lecture from Gargi Bhattacharyya: The Futures of Racial Capitalism
Gargi Bhattacharyya is a professor of sociology at the University of East London. They are one of the most important writers and thinkers on racial capitalism today, and has published widely in the fields of racism, feminism, and racial capitalism, including the books Dangerous Brown Men (Zed, 2008), Crisis, austerity and everyday life (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015), Rethinking Racial Capitalism (Rowman and Littlefield, 2018), and We, the Heartbroken (Hajar Press, 2023).
In this lecture, Professor Bhattacharyya will give some updates on their work and will talk about one of their most recent publications The Futures of Racial Capitalism (John Wiley and Sons, 2023)
The lecture is organised by the Gender Research Collegium, the Institute for Studies in Malmö’s History, the Department of Urban Studies, and the Department of Social Work. Everybody is welcome, the lecture will be in English, but questions can be asked in Swedish or English.
