Visiting scholar Dr Kavita Ramakrishnan will present her research trajectory in this seminar titled Lexicons of Struggle for Housing, Livelihoods and Citizenship on the Urban Margins.

This talk brings a multi-sited perspective to the urban ‘margins’, seeking to recentre everyday sites of experimentation through the vernaculars of those that inhabit these spaces. Drawing on case studies from migrant workers in Delhi, to migrants seeking asylum in Paris, I examine how provisional and fragmented infrastructures are reworked, and how new formulations of citizenship are expressed and negotiated. Thinking through these precarious urban contexts, I ask how we can (ethically) write and think about solidarity and community for just urban futures.
