We are thrilled to welcome Amber Howard (Bristol University) to IUR as our guest researcher for 2025! Amber will be visiting the center from November 4 to December 1, during which time she will develop early research ideas on the topic of housing precarity and informal lettings in the private rental market. She will present at a seminar for PhD students at the Department of Urban Studies, as well as at a joint Housing and Welfare Research Network/IUR seminar (Urban grey markets: Rental sector transformation under platform capitalism) on November 20th.
About Amber: Amber Howard is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bristol School for Policy Studies, UK, researching family change, wellbeing and social policy, using quantitative methods. She holds a joint PhD from the University of Amsterdam (Political and Economic Geographies) and the University of Melbourne (Healthy Housing), having recently defended her thesis titled Housing Inequality in Young Adulthood.
