Walking and Imagining Channels for Co-existence

IUR Artist in Residence, Helena Fernandez-Cavada will participate in IUR´s brownbag series with a seminar titled Walking and Imagining Channels for Co-existence.

In this session, I would like to share the process behind the walking performance presented in September, focusing on the questions, methods, and dead ends encountered, all in the form of an open dialogue. I want to bring some key questions to the table: How can we explore, express, and imagine the present moment through artistic means to address the challenges of our interdependent existence? What artistic methods hold the potential to raise awareness about the necessary balance for co-existence? How can we approach this question beyond the dualistic opposition to violent and unjust practices? How do we cultivate the capacity to experience interdependency and, in turn, care for each other while considering our daily contributions to the collective realm

It would be interesting to have an open dialogue about how urban planning can inform my artistic practice and whether these questions, from the perspective of urban studies, offer any inspiration, motivation, transformation, or meeting point for thinking together about existential well-being and coexistence. Lastly, I’m open to receiving any feedback you might have from your experience during the walk, if you feel like sharing it.
