Home » Events » Panel at Scania Sounds festival: The Politics of Sound in Public Space

Time and place: Thursday April 16th, 14.00 – 15.00, Brändan in Folkets Park

In this panel, we will discuss the different forms that sound is expressed in public space, and sound’s potential for conflict, inclusion, and exclusion in the urban arena. When is sound “culture,” when is it “nightlife,” and where and at what times is it a nuisance? What forms does it take, and which spaces does it occupy? Who may make sound, who is meant to experience it, and who will cover their ears?

Participants:

Laleh Foroughanfar (Institute for Urban Research)
Harald Stjerna (Kreativa Malmö)
Anton Sauer (Malmö kommunfullmäktige)
Felicia Fredriksson (Moriska paviljongen)

Moderator: Julie Goodrich, research assistant at Institute for Urban Research

The panel is open to the public. Check out the festival’s lineup here.
