Bengt Turner award goes to IUR member Kim Roelofs

Postdoc researcher Kim Roelofs won the Bengt Turner award at the ENHR 2024 conference in Delft (Netherlands). The aim of the Bengt Turner Award is to encourage new researchers to write research papers on housing and urban issues and is awarded for the best conference paper by a new researcher. Kim won the award for her conference paper ‘Spatial Blurring: Resident Experiences in Area-Based Development in a Stigmatized Neighbourhood’. The aim of this paper is to investigate how territorial stigmatization and spatial imaginaries shape residents’ experience of space through a blurring of external representations and intra-neighbourhood experiences. Kim will now develop the paper to get it published in an international journal.
