One-month art residency 2026

The Institute for Urban Research (IUR) and the School of Arts and Communication (K3) invite an artist to a one-month research-driven residency  at Malmö University. The residency will take place either from 16 March to 7 June 2026 or 25 August to 19 December 2026.

The selected artist will join an academic environment fostering peer-to-peer exchange around urban issues relevant both to the artist and to the IUR. The IUR views the artist-in-residence as an opportunity to explore spaces, models, discussions and perspectives for creative and inclusive knowledge production concerned with contemporary urban life.

The residency is intended for an artist with prior experience in project-based work and an interest in, or experience with, artistic research. The artist is expected to present their work to the public and to university researchers toward the end of the residency, through an exhibition, seminar, or public event.

The artist will receive financial support as well as assistance from IUR staff, who will help facilitate connections with local actors engaged in current urban challenges.
