I am mainly interested in the link between transport (particularly public transport) and regional development. Infrastructure and transport have a spatial impact on economic geography, how different markets interact over space and how this in turn influence how regions progress. One of my recent studies, I have looked at the impact of commuter rail on local property markets. I am also active in research within K2 – the Swedish Knowledge Centre for Public Transport, where I currently lead the research area Effects of Public Transport in Society. I have a PhD in Economics from Jönköping international Business School and my dissertation dealt with international trade, demand structure and income distribution.
My research focuses on various transport issues and their impact on the development of society.Désirée Nilsson
